Christina's mother Tina passed away after a long battle with breast cancer, her family announced on Sunday, September 2.

AceShowbiz - Christina Grimmie's mother is now finally reunited with her daughter. Tina Grimmie has passed away of breast cancer, two years after the singer's sudden and tragic death. Her family announced the sad news on social media on Sunday, September 2.

"We are saddened to announce the loss of our beloved Tina, also affectionately known as 'Mama Grimmie' to the millions of fans of Christina Grimmie around the world. She will be missed immensely," the statement opened.

"Tina fought a courageous and brave battle with cancer for many years, even until her final hours with family by her side," the statement continued. "While this is a bittersweet moment for us as a family, particularly after losing Christina two years ago, we rejoice at the thought that Tina and Christina are united once again in the presence of our Lord and Savior."

The family "is grateful to all of Tina's committed caregivers and to our close friends and family for their unwavering prayers and support in the times we needed it most." They also thanked "our beloved #TeamGrimmie, Christina's amazing base of fans, for their immense outpouring of love on social media that's continually kept us encouraged."

In lieu of flowers, they ask that all donations be made to the Christina Grimmie Foundation in Tina's honor.

Christina was gunned down while signing autographs following her performance with Before You Exit at The Plaza Live in Orlando on June 10, 2016. The shooter was 27-year-old Kevin James Loibl, an obsessed fan who was tackled by her brother and eventually took his own life.

Back in 2014, Christina, who was known as a YouTube star and a former "The Voice" contestant, revealed that her mother had survived breast cancer four times. "My mom has had breast cancer four times, now. And she just got put back on chemo again," she said in an interview with AXS at the time.
