AceShowbiz - Cardi B has apologised to the family of civil rights icon Martin Luther King, Jr. after portraying his wife Coretta in an insensitive TV show skit.

The rapper appeared in a sketch titled "The Real Housewives of the Civil Rights Movement" on the "Off the Rip" show, which aired on Tuesday, August 28 and upset Dr. Bernice King, the youngest daughter of Martin and Coretta Scott King.

She criticised Cardi for taking part in the "repulsive" skit, which poked fun at her late father's alleged infidelities, but has since revealed via Twitter the new mum has apologised to her.

"Thank you, @iamcardib, for reaching out to me and apologizing for the skit that aired on @TMZ," she wrote on Tuesday. "I look forward to talking with you soon."

The "Off the Rip" show skit featured Cardi as Coretta taking aim at her husband surrounded by Rosa Parks, Jesse Jackson's wife, and Malcolm X's wife, Betty Shabazz, among others, as they plan a civil rights rally.
