"My entire family sings on every song and [Daryl Sabara] sings on every song, and my father plays the piano and organs on one song," she told the webloid. "It's obviously me being in love and happy, and reminding myself to choose happiness and love myself."

Preceding the album's release were two official singles which she released this year. Its lead single, "No Excuses", was unveiled on March 1 and greatly praised by music critics due to its feminist lyrics. Many even referred to it as a girl-power anthem, with Emily Czachor of Bustle saying that the song "touts a marked air of female grit," which seemed "particularly relevant."

Many people apparently thought the same as "No Excuses" peaked at No. 10 on Billboard's Adult Top 40 chart and at No. 16 on Mainstream Top 40 chart. It additionally peaked at No. 17 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary chart.

The album's second single, "Let You Be Right", was unleashed on May 10. Produced by Andrew Wells, the song peaked at No. 21 on Adult Top 40 chart and at No. 28 on Mainstream Top 40 chart. She also unearthed a promotional single entitled "Can't Dance" on the same day as the second single's release.
