AceShowbiz - Missy Elliott has paid tribute to late singer Aaliyah with an emotional video to mark the anniversary of her death.
The Try Again hitmaker died on 25 August 2001 after the plane carrying the singer and eight others, which was en route to Florida, crashed just after takeoff from Marsh Harbour Airport in the Bahamas.
All on board were killed. It was later determined that the vehicle was overloaded by approximately 700 pounds and carried one extra passenger.
Aaliyah had been in the Caribbean to complete filming her music video for Rock the Boat, a track off of her self-titled third album.
On Saturday, August 25, her fans and famous friends took to social media to honour the singer, 17 years after her tragic death.
Missy posted a video of herself writing a handwritten note on Twitter, which read: "Aaliyah, we miss you so much. But your legacy will live on forever and ever!"
