The journalist and broadcaster passed away on Thursday night, August 23, after suffering a stroke late last year (17), according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal, where Leach worked as a columnist.

He writes: "Despite the past 10 months, what a beautiful life he had. Our Dad, Grandpa, Brother, Uncle and friend Robin Leach passed away peacefully last night."

"Everyone's support and love over the past, almost one year, has been incredible and we are so grateful. Memorial arrangements to follow."

Leach had been hospitalised since November (17), after suffering a stroke while on vacation in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

Born in London in 1941, Leach became a general news reporter for the Harrow Observer at 15 and launched his own magazine at 17, a year before he became a Daily Mail staple.

He emigrated to America in 1963 and wrote for publications like the New York Daily News and People, before launching GO Magazine.

He got his start on TV as a regular contributor to AM Los Angeles, with Regis Philbin & Sarah Purcell, People Tonight, and Entertainment Tonight, but he became a household name as the host of Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous, which ran on TV from 1984 to 1995.

The show offered viewers a glimpse into the lavish homes and lifestyles of the super-rich.
