Olivia wasn't the only one to flub Camila's name during the show as Tiffany Haddish also had pronunciation problems with it.

AceShowbiz - Olivia Munn has explained why she mispronounced Camila Cabello's name at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards on Monday night, August 20.

The X-Men: Apocalypse actress and actor Keegan-Michael Key appeared on stage at the Radio City Music Hall in New York City to present the Havana hitmaker with the Moon Person for Artist of the Year, however, Olivia got a little confused when it came to announcing Camila's name.

After a fan on Twitter called Olivia out following the ceremony, the star admitted she had made an error but emphasised that she was given incorrect information backstage.

"That was the debate backstage when I asked how to pronounce it and that's what everyone told me," the 38-year-old wrote alongside a face palm emoji.

However, Olivia went on to note that she was very happy that Camila won the prize, beating out the likes of Post Malone, Bruno Mars, Cardi B, Ariana Grande and Drake.

"I saw her grab her mom's hand right before I opened the envelope, it just melted my heart. I was so excited for her when I saw her name," she added.

Olivia wasn't the only one to flub Camila's name during the show - Tiffany Haddish also had pronunciation problems while presenting the Best Hip Hop award with Kevin Hart.

"Camila Cabellelo... Cabello... Camille Cabello. You know I can't read that good," the Girls Trip star sighed. "I only speak English, and that's mostly in Ebonics (African-American Vernacular English). She's nominated for five VMAs tonight. I'm super proud of her!"

Camila was later bestowed with the Video of the Year prize by Madonna. The 21-year-old was also nominated for Song of the Year and in the Best Pop and Choreography categories.
