Although the singer pays $20,000-per-month for several years, Federline appears to want more as he requests her to hand over a monthly three times that amount.

AceShowbiz - Britney Spears and her legal team took her ex, Kevin Federline, to task in court on Friday, August 03, following his request to significantly raise the child support he receives from the pop star.

The Toxic singer shares sons Sean, 12, and Jayden, 11, with her former husband and she has consistently paid $20,000 (£15,400)-per-month for several years to Federline to care for their children, but now the dancer wants more, requesting she hand over a monthly three times that amount.

Spears and her team are vehemently against raising the child support cash, and, according to TMZ sources, her lawyers battled it out in court during a contentious hearing as their client landed in the U.K. ahead of a European tour on Friday, in a bid to uncover the real reason behind Kevin's request for more money.

Sources tell the outlet the pop icon suspects he is only asking for further funds to support the other four children he has from different relationships, as she pays or her all of her boys' monthly expenses, including tuition, extracurricular activities, clothing and anything else they need.

Spears' finances have been locked away under a conservatorship overseen by her father, Jamie Spears, since 2008 after she suffered a breakdown, and her dad has offered to give his former son-in-law an extra $10,000 (£7,700) in additional monies per month, but he is refusing to pay Federline any more than that.

The Friday hearing became dramatic when Kevin's lawyers demanded detailed expense reports to get a comprehensive overview of her finances.

Spears' legal team insisted the appeal is ridiculous and hit back by demanding Federline's attorneys break down exactly how much more their client feels the children need, arguing the financial analysis only benefits his lawyer by prolonging the legal process to increase his fee.

Despite the protest, Britney's lawyers complied and submitted financial statements from 2017, which have been obtained by ET Online. They reveal her earnings for the year were over $56.5 million (£44 million), while her expenses include just over $384,000 (£295,000) for insurance, dry cleaning, food and entertainment, while she also pays her dad Jamie $128,000 (£99,000)-per-year to serve as her conservator. The pop star also submitted more details about how she spends her money, revealing she shops at the same stores the average American does, like Target, Ralphs, Bed Bath & Beyond, Walmart, Trader Joe's and fast food joints like McDonald's.

The legal battle between Britney and Kevin, who were married for three years until their 2007 divorce, continues.

Meanwhile, Britney is billed to headline the Brighton Pride festival in the U.K. on Saturday, August 04.
