'Why is it okay to drink while breastfeeding?' one confused commenter writes in the comment section of the singer's Instagram post.

AceShowbiz - Jessie James Decker has caused concern among fans after seemingly enjoying an alcoholic beverage while breastfeeding her son.

The country music singer and her husband Eric Decker, wide receiver for the New England Patriots in the National Football League, welcomed their son Forrest in March, a sibling to the couple's four-year-old daughter Vivianne and two-year-old son Eric.

Taking to Instagram on Thursday, August 02, the "Flip My Hair" singer posted an image of herself relaxing in a wicker chair while breastfeeding her five-month-old son and holding a champagne flute filled with a pink-coloured liquid.

Captioning the snap "Cheers b**ches," fans were quick to speculate about the contents of the glass and raise concerns that the mother-of-three was seemingly drinking while feeding her child.

"You and your baby are beautiful!!!! I hope that's not alcohol while you feeding that precious gift..." one concerned user wrote, while another commented: "Why is it okay to drink while breastfeeding?"

However, others praised the 30-year-old songstress for finding the balance between motherhood and self-care and suggested it was harmless so long as she practised moderation.

"Love it!!! I just learned that it's totally fine to drink while breastfeeding!!" one mum gushed, while another added: "People give me s** for having a drink and breastfeeding... my pediatrician told me it was perfectly fine just don't get hammered lol (laugh out loud)".

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the U.S. recommends that not drinking alcohol is the "safest option" for breastfeeding mothers, but adds that moderate alcohol consumption (up to one standard drink per day) is not known to be harmful to the infant. According to the U.K's National Health Service (NHS), there is "some evidence" that regularly drinking more than two units of alcohol a day while breastfeeding may affect your baby's development.
