AceShowbiz - Jennifer Lopez often wears Versace to red carpet events after bonding with Donatella Versace over her brother Gianni's murder.
The fashion house founder was shot and killed outside his Miami Beach mansion in Florida in 1997 and two years later, Jennifer struck up a friendship with grieving Donatella at the 1999 Met Gala.
"My heart went out to (Donatella). I just kept touching her and holding her hand," the singer and actress told Vogue. "She felt so fragile at the time. And she remembered that and we kind of bonded after that. She was so kind and so sweet to me, and we always kept in touch.
"She was always sending me dresses for whatever I needed. It was a natural organic relationship that wasn't forced. It is a friendship that goes back many years."
Jennifer has made history wearing Versace garments, famously donning a green navel bearing gown from the brand to the 2000 Grammy Awards with her then-boyfriend Sean 'Diddy' Combs as her date, among other noteworthy couture looks from the high-end label, and she plans to continue doing so for the rest of her career.
The "On the Floor" hitmaker is gearing up to perform at the MTV Video Music Awards, where she will receive the coveted Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award, and although she admits her red carpet fashion decisions are often last-minute, the star notes she'll likely wear "something Versace" to the prizegiving.
Jennifer will also be performing at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards, which will take place at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on August 20.
