The 'Hwarang' actor insists the 'couple items' and his jersey number, which many claim to be evidences of their relationship, are just coincidences.

AceShowbiz - Park Seo Joon addressed his dating rumors with Park Min Young in an interview held in Gangnam on Tuesday, July 31 in light of his recently ended drama "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim". The 29-year-old actor once again denied that they're an item and clarified coincidences which led fans to believe that the dating reports were true.
"They were saying we have many same items and traveled together. I wondered if I have to reveal my departure dates for proof. But in a way, I didn't think that was necessary since I haven't done anything wrong," he said.
"As for the 'couple items,' " he explained, "people who like clothes and are interested in fashion would know that the items were a trend during the time." He added with a joke, "I have them in several colors, but if you say I'm dating her just by the one that happens to overlap then I must be dating Justin Bieber too (laughs). I have nothing to say if you're going to forcefully fit things like that. Some say I was obvious but I'm not sure what was obvious."
Netizens also linked Park Seo Joon's jersey number, 34, which resembles Park Min Young's birthday, which is March 4, to the dating rumors. Regarding this, the "Midnight Runners" star said, "I agree the back number can be seen that way. My number was 28 when I first entered the baseball team. I wanted to do 27 but 28 was the closest one. The reason why I changed my number recently is that the celebrity baseball team got new uniforms with the charity Gocheok Sky Dome game coming up. If you like major league baseball then you would know 34 is the number often used by the ace of the team. Usually, a manly sang-namja player uses 34 so I chose that but it was once again fit into (the dating rumors) like this."
He went on claiming that he was actually hesitant to address the dating rumors, but "there were many people who were curious and it's not true so I ended up talking about it."
Asked if things turned awkward between him and his "What's Wrong With Secretary Kim" co-star because of the dating rumors, he answered, "Things aren't awkward with Park Min Young. What makes it awkward is the surrounding atmosphere but I felt like it'll be weird to feel awkward because of it."
But people are not easily convinced by Park Seo Joon's explanation. Pointing out the so-called evidence, one said that the actor once used 28 as his jersey number when he was reported dating Baek Jin Hee, whose birthday is February 8.
"His uniform number was '28' when he was dating Baek Jin Hee, whose birthday is 2/8. His uniform number now is '34'... and Park Min Young's birthday is 3/4. He's calling this a coincidence..?" the fan commented. Another added, "It's hard to call this a coincidence... when your number was the same with your ex too... Just admit it already."
Some others asked Park Seo Joon to come clean about his relationship with Park Min Young. "Is someone going to eat you alive if you admit you're dating? It'll be worse for your image if people find out later than now," another wrote. "Oppa, just admit it. Once the pictures are out, your career is going to be thrown over the cliff's edge," read another comment.
Their dating rumors first emerged in the July 27/28th edition of local newspaper Sports DongA. According to the newspaper, the on-screen lovers were also an item in real life and they have been together for three years, before they co-starred on the recently concluded tvN drama.
"Many are curious about their relationship," said a so-called insider. "But they didn't want their personal lives getting more attention than their work so they kept it a secret, even to their close peers and had 007-like dates."
Netizens also pointed out that Park Seo Joon and Park Min Young wore couple items and traveled to places together. The two stars' labels, however, quickly debunked the rumors.
