AceShowbiz - Professional beach volleyball player Morgan Beck felt torn was she prepared to become a mum for the third time following the drowning death of her 19-month-old daughter.
Emeline Grier Miller passed away at an Orange County, California hospital in June after she was found floating in a pool at a neighbour's party. Morgan had been indoors at the bash when their little girl slipped outside and fell into the water.
The sportswoman and her husband, skiing hero Bode Miller, have since opened up about the heartbreaking loss in a candid interview on breakfast show Today, during which Morgan, who announced her latest pregnancy in April, admitted she was conflicted about welcoming another child after suffering the tragedy.
"That was my first concern, besides the fact of never being able to see my daughter again," she said. "It was every time, 'How am I supposed to bring a new baby into this world... with just losing my baby?'".
Morgan has since managed to adopt a more positive approach to the family's autumn arrival in memory of their daughter.
"Eme was so excited to be a big sister," the athlete said. "She walked around all the time with her baby (doll) and now we have the opportunity to get to love that (new) baby, not only for ourselves, but for Eme".
The unborn child will be Morgan's third with former Olympic skier Bode, who also has two older kids from previous relationships, and both parents have credited the youngsters with pulling them through the tough time, a hard lesson about water safety that they are now using to spread awareness for other parents.
"It's an obligation, to some degree (to speak out about the tragedy)," Bode explained. "I think it does, in some way, help to heal a little bit and maybe we're preventing it from happening to somebody else".
