Some fans insisted the attack had been set up in order to promote his new single 'FEFE'.

AceShowbiz - Rapper Tekashi69 has hit back at fan rumours suggesting his kidnapping ordeal was set up as a publicity stunt.

The Gotti hitmaker was hospitalised on Sunday, July 22, after three hooded gunmen reportedly pistol-whipped and knocked him unconscious outside of his home in New York, before robbing him of over $750,000 (£571,000) in jewellery and cash.

Tekashi69, real name Daniel Hernandez, has since been forced to defend the authenticity of his claims after some fans insisted the attack had been set up in order to promote his new single FEFE with Nicki Minaj, which dropped on the same day of his incident.

"It leaves me speechless for words," the 22-year-old told TMZ.com reporters. "I wouldn't want to set up a publicity stunt and lose close to a million dollars - you know what I'm saying?

"I'm like the boy who cried wolf, you know what I'm saying? Like the person who trolls so much... like, when it's actually real, people just don't believe it anymore because it's like, 'Oh he's trolling.'"

During the chat, Tekashi69 also spoke about the incident and alleged that one of the gunmen hit him so hard in the head that he blacked out and woke up in the back of a different vehicle.
