The 56-year-old filmmaker went on to explain how continuing to use his vocals could portray the company to have double standards.

AceShowbiz - Bobcat Goldthwait has suggested Disney remove his voice from an upcoming Disneyland theme park attraction in support of filmmaker James Gunn.

Bosses at The Walt Disney Company fired James as the director of "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3" after a string of offensive Twitter messages he posted between 2008 and 2009 resurfaced.

Comedian-turned-director Bobcat is the latest star to pledge his support following public declarations from cast members Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Karen Gillan. A petition for the filmmaker to be re-hired has also garnered over 215,000 signatures.

"I love @jamesgunn. He's a loyal friend, super talented, passionate and kind. I wanted to say something, here it is," Bobcat, 56, wrote on his Instagram page. "Dear @disney I would hate for you to come off as hypocritical so I'm suggesting that you remove my voice from an attraction that's coming to your park. It's called WORLD OF COLOR - VILLAINOUS, and I reprise the role of Pain, a role I played in HERCULES."

The 56-year-old filmmaker went on to explain how continuing to use his vocals could portray the company to have double standards after he admitted he too has made a number of inappropriate and offensive jokes in the past which he now regrets.

"You see here's the deal, years ago I made a lot of sarcastically shocking and offensive jokes," he continued. "Many that I'm embarrassed about now, and I'd hate to make you guys look bad seeing that I'm openly critical of the president and his administration, and you seem to be taking your lead from some of his radical fringe supporters.

I love @jamesgunn. He’s a loyal friend, super talented, passionate and kind. I think James Woods may have recorded a voice for this new attraction, too. Why not check out some of his whacky past tweets?! They’re a hoot! For the record I do stand with survivors of sexual abuse and I was wondering if you guys are still making money off of your movie POWDER? Asking for a friend. Thanks, Bobcat

The star also suggested bosses at the media company take a look at James Woods' past tweets, who voiced Hades in the 1997 animated film "Hercules".

Disney film executives labelled James Gunn's behaviour "indefensible" after a string of tweets referencing rape and paedophilia emerged from his social media account. The 51-year-old has since apologised profusely and insisted the tweets "don't reflect the person I am today."
