The 'Post' actor is said to have recently viewed residential properties on Folegandros, in the Greece islands, one of his favorite vacation spots.

AceShowbiz - Tom Hanks is on the hunt for a new holiday home in the Greek islands.

The Oscar-winning star and his actress wife Rita Wilson already own a home on the picturesque isle of Antiparos.

However, according to editors at British newspaper The Sunday Mirror, the 62-year-old was spotted viewing residential properties on Folegandros, in the Greece islands, one of his favourite vacation spots, which he visits on his yacht every year. Most recently, he was pictured celebrating his birthday there in early July.

Following the viewings, the "Cast Away" star was later reportedly seen dining at restaurant Papalagi with Rita and a group of pals.

"There's a lot of land with big views where he could build," a local reportedly told the news outlet. "Hanks could have another home on Folegandros and no one would bother him."

The actor's love affair with Greece is well known, as he frequently holidays in the islands with Rita, whose mother is Greek, and it's also the location for the big screen versions of the hit ABBA movie musical "Mamma Mia!" and its recently released sequel "Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again", of which both Hanks and his wife are executive producers.

The star revealed in an appearance on "The Graham Norton Show" back in January that he was keen to appear in the 2008 movie but his poor singing voice scuppered the dream. Instead Pierce Brosnan, Colin Firth and Stellan Skarsgard were picked over the double Best Actor Oscar winner to sing with star Meryl Streep.

"I was a producer of Mamma Mia and I tried out for a role," he told chat show host Norton. "I wanted to hire myself, but my singing voice would have scared the children."

He added that his role opposite Meryl in Steven Spielberg drama "The Post" was the first time the acting legends had worked together onscreen.
