Chris Heisser was charged with four misdemeanours, including driving while under the influence of any alcoholic beverage.

AceShowbiz - Heather Locklear's boyfriend has been sentenced to probation after striking a plea deal in his driving under the influence (DUI) case.

Chris Heisser was arrested in February, hours after Locklear was detained at her Thousand Oaks, California home, following an alleged fight between the actress and her former high school sweetheart.

Heisser was pulled over by a California State Highway Patrol trooper after he was spotted driving well below the speed limit on the Ventura Freeway, and he subsequently failed a field sobriety test.

He was charged with four misdemeanours, including driving while under the influence of any alcoholic beverage and two counts of driving with a blood alcohol level of .15 or higher, but he has since only pleaded guilty to one count of DUI as part of an agreement with prosecutors.

Under the terms of the deal, Heisser was handed 36 months of probation and fined just under $2,400 (£1,840), while he was also ordered to complete a nine-month DUI programme, according to TheBlast.com.

Meanwhile, former "Melrose Place" actress Locklear is facing a string of legal issues of her own - she recently pleaded not guilty to attacking cops responding to February's domestic dispute, but was arrested on similar charges last month after another incident at her home.

She was released on $20,000 (£15,000) bail, but was hospitalised hours later amid concerns Locklear, who has a history of substance abuse, was trying to overdose.
