The Ethan Hunt depicter says 'it wasn't scary' to be back filming action scenes for the movie after he injured his ankle while jumping into a building for a scene of the movie.

AceShowbiz - Tom Cruise wasn't scared to throw himself back into stunt work after breaking his ankle on the set of the latest "Mission: Impossible" film.

Tom is back as action man Ethan Hunt in the sixth instalment of the movie franchise, Fallout, with Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Ving Rhames and Alec Baldwin also reprising their roles.

Filming had to be halted last summer when Tom crushed his ankle during a big building jump stunt while shooting in London, and despite doctors fearing the 56-year-old would never run again, he defied the odds and was back on set after just six weeks.

"It wasn't scary really, it was just, 'What is going to happen?'" Tom exclusively told WENN. "I was really, really focused. I did rehab for 10 to 12 hours a day afterwards, I just did everything I could to get the swelling down and get back running as fast as possible. Luckily, I didn't need an operation. We just stayed really focused. And at six weeks later I was filming again, nine weeks I was basically doing free climbing even though the ankle was broken and at 11 weeks I started running again - I was able to at least sprint."

Photos of Tom smashing into the building were published around the world, and the triple Oscar nominee admitted he had no idea how long it would take to get him back to his action best.

"We had to measure the days," he explained. "I didn't know how many sprints I would be able to do for the takes because we didn't know what was going to happen. So that's what I did. I just wanted to get it, just get it!"

"Mission: Impossible - Fallout", which also stars Henry Cavill, Angela Bassett and Vanessa Kirby, hits cinemas from July 25.
