'State of the Union' will follow a couple, to be played by Pike and O'Dowd, as they attend marital therapy sessions.

AceShowbiz - Gone Girl star Rosamund Pike and Bridesmaids' Chris O'Dowd are to play a struggling married couple in a new TV comedy, directed by Stephen Frears.

State Of The Union, written by British author Nick Hornby, will follow the couple as they attend marital therapy sessions, while looking back on their courtship, marriage and imminent break-up.

Hornby and Frears, who worked together on the movie adaptation of the author's book High Fidelity, will executive produce.

"State of the Union is an unusual project, so it's all the more gratifying that we have managed to attract talent of this magnitude," Hornby tells Deadline.
