Slappy, the living ventriloquist dummy, plots a sinister plan after two boys unleash it from Stine's manuscript.

AceShowbiz - What could go wrong with cute tiny gummy bears? Well, everything could go wrong in R. L. Stine's horror story, which is once again adapted into a feature film with "Goosebumps 2: Haunted Halloween". A sequel to 2015's "Goosebumps", it moves the story from Madison, Delaware, where the first film was set, to a small town of Wardenclyffe.

Sony Pictures Entertainment has released the first trailer, showing how two teen boys unleash the monsters from Stine's book. Sonny (Jeremy Ray Taylor) and Sam (Caleel Harris) are riding their bikes when an abandoned house, who was previously owned by R. L. Stine, piques their interest.

There, they find a manuscript called "Haunted Halloween" and open it, unknowingly release Slappy who plans to cause a Halloween Apocalypse with the help of his monster allies. The two boys appear to have no idea about the talking doll's sinister nature, until a bunch of strange creatures, such as killer gummy bears, a walking skeleton and a menacing gorilla, run around their town. Now Sonny and Sam alongside Sonny's sister Sarah (Madison Iseman) must work to thwart Slappy's plot before all is lost.

An international trailer with slightly different footage is also released for potential audience overseas.

Jack Black, who played Stine in the first movie, won't reprise the role, but still lends his voice to Slappy the Dummy. Wendi McLendon-Covey, Chris Parnell and Ken Jeong also star in the upcoming horror movie. Ari Sandel directs from a script by Rod Lieber. Neal H. Moritz and Deborah Forte are producing, with Timothy M. Bourne and Tania Landau as executive producers.

It is set to be unleashed in theaters across the nation on October 12.
