The No More Drama hitmaker has teamed up with her designer friend Simone I. Smith to create Sister Love, and she debuted the first item in the range, a pair of her signature gold hoop earrings, on Instagram on Friday, July 06.
"I am so proud to bring you #SisterLove, a jewelry line that represents women working together and recognizing each others strength and power," Mary captioned a snap of the two women rocking the earrings. "Thank you @sislovespurple (Simone) for being on this journey with me. check out the Queen Hoops, available today...!"
The big announcement was made to coincide with the 2018 Essence Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana, which Mary will headline on Saturday, July 07.
She and Simone have also set up a Sister Love Booth Experience, which opens to the public on Friday afternoon at the city's Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, where Mary is being interviewed as part of the Essence Festival events.
Simone celebrated the launch in her own Instagram post, writing, "IT'S FINALLY HERE!!! ( AND AT @essencefest TODAY) #SisterLove, a collaboration inspired by friendship...and a love for BIG HOOP earrings! Be the first to shop the QUEEN HOOPS available today. They are (fire) ladies!!!!!"
The 18-karat yellow gold hoops are priced at just under $200 (£150).
They have yet to reveal other Sister Love designs, but a mission statement posted on the brand's website teases there are many more pieces to come.
"Sister Love is a jewelry line inspired by the friendship of Simone I. Smith and Mary J. Blige," reads the message. "It's a collection of designs that symbolizes strength, edge, style, and sassiness made in their support for each other and their love of statement pieces.
"Sister Love is based on the notion that Queens Rek-A-Nize (sic) Queens because we are stronger together. Simone and Mary believe working together shows other women the importance of supporting each other. The line was designed to inspire women to be strong, fearless, empowered and to 'wear what you want...because you CAN!'"
