'It Comes at Night' director Trey Edward Shults will direct the drama, which will begin filming in South Florida next month.

AceShowbiz - Oscar nominee Lucas Hedges and Primetime Emmy Award winner Sterling K. Brown have been tapped to star in A24's upcoming musical drama "Waves". Kelvin Harrison Jr., who appeared in "12 Years a Slave", and "If I Had Wings" star Taylor Russell also join the cast. The filming reportedly will begin in August and take place in South Florida.

Hedges is known for his roles in Oscar-nominated films such as "Lady Bird", "The Grand Budapest Hotel" and "Manchester by the Sea". He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 2016 Academy Award for his performance in "Manchester by the Sea". As for Brown, he won two Emmys for his performance on "The People v. O. J. Simpson: American Crime Story" and "This Is Us".

"Waves" is described as a dramatic musical with a fresh spin, according to Variety. The plot revolves around two young couples as they navigate the emotional minefield of growing up and falling in love. With that being said, "Waves" presents an energetic, affecting anthem of contemporary teenage life.

Trey Edward Shults is on board to write the script and direct the film, marking his third collaboration with A24. Shults is known for his work on "Krisha" and "It Comes at Night", which were produced by the same production house. Meanwhile, the dramatic musical marks the second collaboration between Shults and Harrison as the actor previously starred in "It Comes at Night".

A24 has hired composers Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross to provide an original score for the project. The pair previously worked on "The Social Network" in 2010 and won the Academy Award for Best Original Score. Later in 2013, their work on "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2011)" earned them Grammy Award for Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media.

No release date is announced for the musical drama yet.
