The British actor receives Outstanding Achievement Award at the event, joining the likes of J.K. Rowling and Dame Judi Dench.

AceShowbiz - Benedict Cumberbatch has been left stunned by an outstanding achievement award at this year's South Bank Sky Arts Awards.

The "Sherlock" and "Doctor Strange" star, who has joined the ranks of recipients like J.K. Rowling and Dame Judi Dench, admitted he was "quite flabbergasted" as he claimed his latest accolade at London's Savoy Hotel.

"I am needless to say, immensely grateful and humbled," he said. "The South Bank Show (British TV arts programme) has always had a place in my heart as being an inspirational exploration of the best of culture, so to be recognised in this way by (longtime host) Melvyn (Bragg) and the show is incredibly flattering, and I am very humbled to be this year's recipient. Many, many thanks."

Stormzy picked up the event's Pop Award for his hit debut album "Gang Signs and Prayer", while "Paddington 2" was named Best Film.

Lord Bragg also handed out awards to TV comedy Inside No. 9 and BBC drama "Howard's End".

The annual ceremony celebrates British arts.
