The actress reveals that her agent once informed her that a Warner Bros. executive believed she wouldn't find fame unless she slimmed down.

AceShowbiz - Actress Amber Tamblyn was insulted by a film executive when she was told to lose weight in order to be successful.

The star sat down for a discussion with The New York Times on Wednesday, June 27 and while discussing the poor treatment of women in Hollywood, she relived the troubling moment she was told to lose weight or lose roles.

According to the 35-year-old, her agent informed her that a Warner Bros. executive believed she wouldn't find fame unless she slimmed down after shooting the 2008 film "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2".

"I think at that point I was 128 pounds and I'm 5-7," she shared. "I remember my agent saying to me - and she was a woman - 'You have a real choice here; you can either be Nicole Kidman or you can be a character actress'.

"I was, like, 21 years old, so if you look at that and use that as an example and imagine that for over two decades, forms of that from when you're a child to all the way up, it does something to you."

Tamblyn also noted her look has often kept her from choice roles in Hollywood.

She explained, "There were always different forms of being shut out of conversations or being boxed out of different places, in which I know my voice should exist, or being told, under certain circumstances, I had to look a certain way or I was going to fail."
