Wiig's Barbara Minerva a.k.a. Cheetah is dressing in her commoner outfit as she looks around a museum in the image shared by director Patty Jenkins.

AceShowbiz - Unlike many other big superhero movies which tend to keep things under wraps prior to the release dates, "Wonder Woman 1984" is not shrouded in secrecy that much. After confirming Chris Pine's return and sharing his first photo in the upcoming sequel, director Patty Jenkins now unveils the first look at Kristen Wiig as Barbara Minerva a.k.a. villain Cheetah.

Wiig is dressing in her character's commoner outfit in the image, as she's looking around what appears to be a natural history museum. She wears a red shirt and a knee length skirt while carrying a huge bag. "Enter Barbara Minerva… #WW84," Jenkins captions it.

In the comics, Minerva is depicted as a British anthropologist and heiress who gains the powers of the cheetah after an expedition to an African jungle. She becomes obsessed with gaining treasures held by Diana Prince (such as her lasso of truth.)

The "Wonder Woman" sequel is set in 1984, against the backdrop of the Cold War. Gal Gadot reprises her role as Diana Prince a.k.a. the titular Amazonian warrior princess. Pedro Pascal joins the cast in a secret role.

There have been speculations about how the movie will bring back Chris Pine's Steve Trevor and one theory is linked to Pascal's possible role. It's suggested that he may not be the original Steve, but a disguise for a darker presence. In "Wonder Woman" comic book No. 289 (1982), Wonder Woman's frequent nemesis Doctor Psycho creates a powerful body out of ectoplasm that looked like Steve and fought Diana as Captain Wonder. Should this be true, Pascal may play Doctor Psycho.

Dave Callaham and Geoff Johns write the script for the sequel, while Deborah and Zack Snyder are producing. The movie is slated for a November 1, 2019 release in the United States.
