AceShowbiz - Rapper/actor Ice Cube is working on creating a tournament like the soccer World Cup for his BIG3 basketball league.

The Friday star launched the three-on-three league in January, 2017, and is currently in negotiations to expand the brand into China and South America, and if his plans come to fruition, he wants to set up a global tournament to showcase the best-of-the-best.

"We've talked to China about BIG3 China, (and) we've been talking to Brazil about a BIG3 South America," he told breakfast show Today.

"What we want to create is like a World Cup of three-on-three basketball so we'll have the champions of those leagues come play in our summer league."

The U.S. venture is already proving popular among sports fans, with the current set-up featuring eight teams, coached by stars like Allen Iverson, Julius Erving, and Rick Mahorn, and featuring current and former NBA players.

Ice Cube and his business partners got a further boost at the start of the 2018 season when Adidas bosses entered the sport.
