AceShowbiz - Taylor Nolan and Derek Peth from reality TV show "Bachelor in Paradise" decided to end their engagement on Tuesday, June 26. The unfortunate breakup comes about a year after they started dating in season 4 of the TV show and ten months after Derek proposed to Taylor. The two said in a joint statement that it was the best decision for them to go forward separately.
"It is with much sadness that we have decided to end our engagement. We put everything we could into our relationship and are heartbroken to go forward separately, but we know this is the best decision for the both of us," the former couple said in the statement released via E! News. "We will still be present in each other's lives with support, admiration and respect for each other."
Before calling it quits, the estranged lovers embarked on a long distance relationship which might be the cause of the breakup. Derek relocated to New York City in early December while Taylor lives in her hometown of Seattle.
On May 5, Taylor took to Instagram to post a picture of her and Derek when they went for a trip to meet Taylor's parents in South Jersey. She revealed on the caption that she was struggling with her long distance relationship.
"A late #mcm butttt this was from our trip to south jersey where @pethderek met my family. He was just him and I was just me. It's one of my favorite trips we've had because everyone loved him and it just fit. Long distance is difficult but thinking about good quality experiences like this makes it a bit easier. See ya soon (ish) boooo @pethderek #ThatCardiganDoe," the caption read.
Back in September last year, Derek also revealed his struggle with the long distance relationship to Entertaiment Tonight. "Originally we were like, 'This is fun, but we're in different states,' " the reality TV star said. "We tried to be realistic and then it turned out I couldn't stay away from her."
