The 71-year-old musician wished his late siblings and bandmates Robin and Maurice and their younger brother Andy could have been there with him.

AceShowbiz - Bee Gees singer Sir Barry Gibb paid tribute to his late brothers after collecting a knighthood on Tuesday, June 26.

The 71-year-old received the honour from British royal Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace in London.

After the investiture ceremony, the Stayin' Alive musician said that he wished his late siblings and bandmates Robin and Maurice and their younger brother Andy could have been there with him.

"If it was not for my brothers, I would not be here," he told The Press Association. "If I had spent my whole life writing songs on my own, it would have meant something else altogether. I hope and pray that they are aware of what has happened and that they are proud. I believe in that".

Sir Barry, who has been the last surviving member of the legendary disco trio since Robin's death from cancer in 2012, added that there is "no question" he would have loved to have shared the moment with his brothers.

The star was named alongside The Beatles drummer Ringo Starr in Queen Elizabeth II's New Year's Honours List.

After being told he would be knighted, Sir Barry expressed his gratitude to his brothers.

"I want to acknowledge how responsible my brothers are for this honour. It is as much theirs as it is mine. The magic, the glow, and the rush will last me the rest of my life," he stated.

The music icon also explained that he found being made a knight "surreal" but added: "It is a high award that your culture can give you and that is something I am enormously proud of".

Sir Barry, Maurice and Robin were all made Commanders of the British Empire in 2002, but tragically, Maurice passed away unexpectedly the following year at the age of 53 due to complications of a twisted intestine.

Andy, who had his own pop career, died at the age of 30 in 1988 after suffering from heart problems brought on by drug use.
