'I called family members and was asking, you know, 'Was Kim thinking about leaving me after TMZ?' ' the rapper recalls during a new interview.

AceShowbiz - Kanye West thought that his marriage to Kim Kardashian might be nearing its end. In a new interview with the New York Times, the hip-hop superstar admitted that his reality star wife might divorce him over the controversial slavery comments he made during an appearance on TMZ Live.

"There was a moment where I felt like after TMZ, maybe a week after that, I feel like the energy levels were low," he recalled during the interview, adding, "I called family members and was asking, you know, 'Was Kim thinking about leaving me after TMZ?' So that was a real conversation."

Fortunately for him, the "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" star decided to defend him on social media and stood by his side throughout the release of his latest studio album "Ye". She even showed her admiration for her husband on their fourth wedding anniversary.

Kanye received a massive backlash after saying that "slavery was a choice" while appearing on TMZ Live in early May. But did Kanye regret his action afterward? It doesn't seem so as he told New York Times that his comment was misunderstood.

"I said the idea of sitting in something for 400 years sounds - sounds - like a choice to me, I never said it's a choice. I never said slavery itself - like being shackled in chains - was a choice," he noted. "That's why I went from slave to 400 years to mental prison to this and that. If you look at the clip you see the way my mind works."

"I feel stupid to have to say out loud that I know that being put on the boat was - but also I'm not backing down, bro," he added. "What I will do is I'll take responsibility for the fact that I allowed my voice to be used back to back in ways that were protective of it when voice means too much."
