The 'Melrose Place' alum reportedly punched a deputy after a family member called the police to report a disturbance.

AceShowbiz - Troubled actress Heather Locklear has been arrested for battery on a police officer for the second time.

The former "Dynasty" star was apprehended at her California home shortly before midnight on Sunday, June 24 and charged with two counts of misdemeanour battery upon an officer and emergency services personnel.

She was previously arrested on similar charges back in February.

Law enforcement sources tell TMZ.com that Locklear, who was hospitalised for medical evaluation last week, was heavily intoxicated when a family member called the police to report a disturbance. The 56-year-old reportedly punched a deputy who attempted to separate her from family members, and kicked an emergency medical technician who joined paramedics in trying to place her on a gurney.

She was taken to a hospital and then on to jail where she is being held on $20,000 (£15,000) bail.

Heather was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold last week after allegedly choking her mother and attacking her father. However, despite police officers attending the call, the incident was treated as a medical matter rather than a police one and she was released from hospital after three days.

The troubled star was charged with four counts of misdemeanour battery on an officer and one misdemeanour count of resisting or obstructing an officer following an altercation back in February, when she reportedly attacked cops who intervened in a domestic dispute with her boyfriend, Chris Heisser.

After the incident, Heather entered a rehabilitation facility in a bid to tackle substance abuse issues.
