The British singer pauses the concert to go to the toilet after performing 'Galway Girl' and 'Photograph'.

AceShowbiz - British pop star Ed Sheeran had to halt his sold-out concert in Cardiff, Wales twice on Saturday, June 23 to dash to the toilet.

The Shape of You singer was playing the third of four consecutive gigs at the Principality Stadium, where he first had to pause his headlining set after performing his song Galway Girl.

"I've been gigging since I was 14 and I've never done that, and now I do it in front of 60,000 people," he joked to the crowd after returning from the bathroom, according to the BBC.

However, Ed, who had been drinking lots of water during the first half of his show, had to stop the music for a second time just three tracks later, in the middle of his tune Photograph.

Apologising for the interruption, he said, "I'm so sorry Cardiff," before dashing offstage to relieve himself again.

Sheeran was able to pick up where he left off and completed the gig without any further bathroom breaks, and it appears fans were sympathetic to his toilet needs.

"When you got to pee you've got to pee. What an absolutely phenomenal show," one audience member posted on Twitter after the concert, while another wrote, "What a night it was fantastic (sic). Hope you sorted the pee problem".

Sheeran has yet to address his performing faux pas on social media.

The gig took place a day after soul legend Lionel Richie, who is also currently on tour, joined the crowd in Cardiff to check out Sheeran's set on Friday night, June 22, and they later enjoyed a meal together.

"Lovely dinner last night with this fine chap," Ed captioned a snap of the pair on the night out.

Sheeran is currently in the middle of his รท (Divide) Tour, which will keep him on the road until November.
