A new report suggests that 'The Batman' most likely won't feature Ben Affleck reprising his role as the Caped Crusader.

AceShowbiz - With the recent departures at Warner Bros. Pictures, it seems like the company is restructuring its plan with Walter Hamada, the newly-pointed president of DC Films after DC Entertainment co-president and chief creative office Geoff Johns left the position. Under the new president, the studio is quietly sorting through its projects for months, leading to some new insights into the potential storyline and some planned movies getting production dates.
"The Batman", hailing from writer/director Matt Reeves, is allegedly focusing on a younger Dark Knight. A new report also suggests that Ben Affleck, who plays the DC superhero in three movies, won't be reprising his role as the Caped Crusader in the new movie.
Fans also get new updates regarding two new Joker movies, one to star "Suicide Squad" actor Jared Leto, and another that stars Joaquin Phoenix as the titular character. The one featuring Phoenix, which is to be helmed by Todd Phillips, is said to begin its production later in the fall. The flick may be lauched under a new, separate label potentially named "DC Dark" or "DC Black" on a $55 million dollar bugdet.
As for the upcoming standalone The Flash movie, it undergoes a significant change regarding its plot. Starring Ezra Miller, the movie has ditched the previous dark themes that it initially planned to tackle. The new flick reportedly will have time travel comedy "Back to the Future" as its inspiration. To be directed by "Game Night" directing duo John Francis Daly and Jonathan Goldstein, the movie is slated to start filming early in 2019.
In addition, the new report states that Margot Robbie's untitled Harley Quinn project is in active development, while "Bumblebee" screenwriter Christina Hodson is working on a script for "Batgirl". Sundance filmmaker Cathy Yan is attached to serve behind the lens for the upcoming Harley Quinn spin-off.
Next year's plan also includes "Shazam!" and "Wonder Woman 1984". "Shazam!" will star Zachary Levi as the titular character and will hit U.S. theaters on April 15, 2019. As for the "Wonder Woman" sequel, it's recently announced that Chris Pine would be reprising his role as Steve Trevor, joining returning cast member Gal Gadot and Kristen Wiig, who has been tapped to play new villain Cheetah. "Wonder Woman 2" will arrive on November 1, 2019.
While waiting for "Shazam!" and "Wonder Woman 2", fans of DCEU will be able to catch James Wan's "Aquaman" starring Jason Momoa on December 21 this year.
