The 'A Wrinkle in Time' actress didn't reveal exactly what had gone wrong, but she heaped praise on her team for helping to resolve the unexpected fashion issue.

AceShowbiz - Actress Mindy Kaling had to be sewn into her "Ocean's 8" premiere gown on Tuesday, June 05 to avoid a red carpet wardrobe malfunction.

The "A Wrinkle in Time" star documented her preparations for the New York City launch of her new heist movie on Instagram, and even shared a little behind-the-scenes secret as she encountered a last-minute problem with the sparkly black halterneck gown she had chosen by designer Prabal Gurung.

"Post-panic. Mid-sew in. Pre-#Oceans8 Premiere," she captioned an image of herself surrounded by assistants as they pulled the back of her dress together. "Is it really a red carpet without a wardrobe malfunction?"

Mindy didn't reveal exactly what had gone wrong, but she heaped praise on her team, particularly hairstylist Marc Mena, for helping to resolve the unexpected fashion issue.

"My glam squad pulled through," she shared on her Instagram Story timeline. "@marcmena to the rescue!"

She also posted video clips from her night out, which included an afterparty at the Big Apple's Metropolitan Museum of Art, which serves as the scene of the crime in the film.

However, when the new mum returned to her New York hotel suite, she had to recruit a friend to carefully free her from the outfit.

"It was such a glamorous night, except now Akshara has to cut me out of my dress, so this should only take like, 20 to 30 minutes, I think!," she giggled in the video.

Mindy stars in "Ocean's 8" alongside Cate Blanchett, Sandra Bullock, Sarah Paulson, Anne Hathaway, and Rihanna, among others. The film, an all-female spin-off from the George Clooney ensemble franchise, was directed by Gary Ross and opens in theatres this week (ends June 08).
