AceShowbiz - Minnie Driver is recovering after undergoing shoulder surgery.

The star went under the knife on Tuesday, May 29, and the following day revealed the operation had been successful and that she was having physical therapy.

"To all you kind well wishers: Had shoulder surgery yesterday. Had physical therapy today= (sic) I am taking opioids which are scary but necessary," she told her followers.

Joking about the side effects of her medication she added: "The upside of opioids is that a wolf just jumped up into my bed and I am currently stroking its magnificent head. #lovely #hallucinations".

Minnie did not reveal whether she needed surgery due to a recent injury or whether it was to alleviate a long-term problem.

Despite her operation, the Grosse Pointe Blank star found the time to comment on the furore surrounding sitcom star Roseanne Barr - whose self-titled show was cancelled by ABC network executives after she posted a racist tweet about an ex-aide to former U.S. President Barack Obama alongside other offensive claims.

Telling fans of the cancelled comedy show to switch to her own ABC sitcom Speechless, 48-year-old Minnie tweeted: "So proud of @ABCNetwork for having the ethical compunction to cancel #Rosanne despite the show's huge numbers. We too make a show about a middle class family, come and watch us instead."

After receiving a backlash from the shamed comedienne's fans, the actress joked that she was still able to block "racist defenders" despite being sedated ahead of her surgery - a reference to Roseanne's claim that she had sent her offensive tweets after taking the sedative Ambien.
