'He was very much a lesson,' the actress says of the Batman depicter, whom she dated for three years before splitting in 2000.

AceShowbiz - Gwyneth Paltrow doesn't regret her failed relationship with Ben Affleck because it helped her heal an issue from her childhood.

The Avengers: Infinity War star and Affleck spent three years together before parting ways in 2000, and in a new interview with Howard Stern, she revealed the romance taught her a valuable lesson.

"It's interesting, I think there's certain boyfriends where you are trying to work stuff out, right?" she says. "Like, you're trying to heal certain stuff from your childhood and he was very much a lesson in that way".

"I'm not sure exactly what I was trying to heal in that instance, but it was... he was, you know, it was specific," she adds.

This isn't the first time Paltrow has opened up about her relationship with the Justice League star - in 2015, she told Stern Affleck "was not in a good place in his life to have a girlfriend at the time", adding that her parents were "OK with the two of (them) not being together".

He went on to romance Jennifer Lopez and marry Jennifer Garner, while Gwyneth wed Coldplay singer Chris Martin and is now engaged to producer Brad Falchuk.
