AceShowbiz - Superhero sequel Deadpool 2 has ended Avengers: Infinity War's three-week reign at the top of the U.K. box office.
David Leitch's movie, which stars Ryan Reynolds as the titular character, earned $10.4 million (£7.7 million) over the weekend, May 18-21, taking its total earnings since it opened last Tuesday to $17.3 million (£12.9 million).
Its success puts it well ahead of rival comic book flick Avengers: Infinity War, which is in second place with $2.8 million (£2.1 million). The Marvel film has now made more than $1.8 billion (£1.3 billion) in cinemas around the world as it marches towards the rarely broken $2 billion (£1.5 billion) barrier.
Elton John-produced children's animation Sherlock Gnomes is at three with $950,000 (£710,000), while Amy Schumer's latest comic vehicle I Feel Pretty falls to four with $550,000 (£410,000).
Another comedy, Life of the Party (2018), completes the top five with $310,000 (£230,000).
