The series is inspired by the fabled 'Boston Miracle' crime clean-up of the 1990s, when a rising crime rate in the city and police corruption was suddenly squashed.

AceShowbiz - A new Boston, Massachusetts crime drama produced by Matt Damon and Ben Affleck has been picked up by bosses at cable network Showtime. "City on a Hill", which will feature Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge, comes from an original idea from Affleck revolving around the fabled "Boston Miracle" crime clean-up of the 1990s, when a rising crime rate in the city and police corruption was suddenly squashed.

"The series is a penetrating look at the larger criminal justice system and those who operate within it, with mesmerizing performances by Kevin Bacon and Aldis Hodge anchoring the suspense," Showtime CEO David Nevins says in a statement.

Affleck and Damon will executive produce under their Pearl Street Films banner. Bacon is also listed as a co-executive producer.
