AceShowbiz - Rihanna briefly considered ditching the intricately-bejewelled Maison Margiela mini dress and matching robe she wore for the 2018 Met Gala, because it was so heavy. The "Work" hitmaker wowed at the lavish New York City ball on Monday, May 7, when she topped off her beaded ensemble with a papal-style headpiece, but the singer admits the creation weighed a ton as she strutted her stuff on the red carpet.
"It was heavy, every step was a squat," she laughed to news show Entertainment Tonight. "I promise you, my butt gained from that night!"
Rihanna struggled so much when she initially tried on the outfit, she thought about switching to another Maison Margiela Artisanal gown that would also embody the night's theme, "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination".
"I had another option that was a lot more simple, same Margiela, but I felt like it was an insult to the people who sat there and like, hand beaded that entire thing, to just say, 'No, put that in the archives,' " she explained. "It was so great, I couldn't deny it."
