AceShowbiz - "Supergirl" star Melissa Benoist is heading to the stage to make her Broadway debut in "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical". The actress will show off her vocal skills as she takes on the title role of the songwriting legend this summer, portraying a younger version of Carole King during her rise to fame alongside her former husband, Gerry Goffin.
Her limited run will begin on June 7 and wrap on August 4.
"The stage has always felt like home to me, and the fact that I will be joining the amazingly talented Beautiful family for my Broadway debut is wish fulfillment at its finest," Benoist shared in a statement. "Carole's music was a mainstay in my household growing up, like it was for so many people. It will be an honour and a pleasure to sing her music and portray her inspiring resilience to audiences every night."
Stage regular Jessie Mueller played King for the production's original Broadway run in 2014, for which she won the Tony Award for Best Actress in a Musical. The show features hits penned by King, Goffin, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil.
