While the rapper will still go by Kodak Black professionally, he decides to change his name ahead of a 'fresh start.'

AceShowbiz - Rapper Kodak Black has changed his name ahead of a "fresh start". The "Tunnel Vision" hitmaker was born Dieuson Octave but he now plans to go by Bill K. Kapri. He'll still go by Kodak Black professionally.

The name change request comes just weeks after the rap star was sentenced to serve a year behind bars for a number of felony counts following a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team raid on a Florida home he was sharing with friends in January.

Meanwhile, according to TMZ, a child services investigation linked to the raid has been dropped. Kodak was under investigation because there was a child in the house at the time of his arrest.

The 20-year-old could be released by October and will not have to face anymore probation if his behaviour behind bars is exemplary, but the rap star still has another legal woe hanging over him. He is also facing prosecution for first degree criminal sexual conduct after allegedly assaulting a teenage girl at a South Carolina hotel following a concert in 2016. He was indicted by a grand jury last October and freed on bail on December 1 last year.

Kodak faces up to 30 years behind bars if convicted in that case.
