AceShowbiz - "Transformers: The Last Knight" star Isabela Moner has landed the coveted role of "Dora the Explorer" in an upcoming live-action version of the popular kids TV series. The 16-year-old beat out dozens of other young stars to play the curious TV traveler, who helps young children learn about life skills and geography on TV with the help of her monkey pal Boots and her cousin Diego.

"I'm honored and excited to bring Dora to life," Isabela shared in a statement. "I grew up watching the show, and for me, especially as a Latina, Dora was an amazing role model - she is a strong, adventurous and fun-loving girl. I can't wait to put on the backpack and begin her next adventure!"

Director James Bobin will shoot the movie in Australia. It is scheduled for release in August 2019.
