'I'm going to get a little bit emotional because it's such a special day,' Bindi says during her speech at the ceremony.

AceShowbiz - "The Crocodile Hunter" star Steve Irwin's daughter Bindi Irwin sobbed as she paid tribute to her late dad at his star ceremony on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Thursday, April 26. The Australian star was posthumously honoured with a plaque in Hollywood, and his widow and their kids were there to salute the TV star and conservationist, who was killed by a stingray while filming a documentary series in 2006.

In touching speeches, his wife Terri and teenage son Robert shared memories of the great man, but it was Bindi who brought the emotion as she paid tribute to her father. "I'm going to get a little bit emotional because it's such a special day," she said. "I have to tell you that I never in my wildest dreams, imagined that this would become a reality, and this is such an honour as a family to continue in dad's footsteps... so thank you for being here today and supporting us."

Prior to the ceremony, Bindi Irwin told Entertainment Tonight that family friend Russell Crowe had helped them land the Hollywood Walk of Fame honour for Steve.

"I've known Russell since before I was born and he's just wonderful and he's just been a friend of ours for so many years and a friend of dad's," she said. "It's really special to have people like that in your life, who are there no matter what, through the good times and the challenging times and he's just always been a part of our lives."

She continued, "And to have his support, especially with this wonderful honour of the star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame - he wrote a letter of recommendation - and it just meant the world to us as a family."
