The 'Maleficent' actress reveals in an interview that her son 'still needs help with the pedals, but won't for long.'

AceShowbiz - Angelina Jolie's youngest son Knox is following in his mother's adventurous footsteps by learning how to fly a plane. Jolie, who split from husband Brad Pitt in 2016, is known for her family's globe-trotting lifestyle. It appears their regular plane travels have inspired her nine-year-old boy Knox to take an interest in his mom's favourite hobby.

"I love being up in the air," she tells People magazine. "I love the freedom. Knox is now learning to fly. It makes me crazy happy to see him discover it. He still needs help with the pedals, but won't for long."

The "Salt" star earned her pilot's license in late 2004, and recently showed off her skills in the captain's seat by flying a small plane over the Namibian desert for an appearance on U.K. TV documentary "The Queen's Green Planet".

Jolie is also mother to Knox's twin sister, Vivienne, as well as siblings Shiloh, Zahara, Pax, and Maddox, and she took her whole brood with her as she filmed segments for the documentary to highlight the forest conservation work being carried out as part of the Queen's Commonwealth Canopy project in Namibia, where daughter Shiloh was born.

The actress has been involved in the local environmental efforts since 2016, when she was asked for her help by government officials, and she wanted to teach her children about the importance of protecting the earth. "I wanted to help communities," Jolie explains of her reasons for working with Namibian officials. "Building schools and clinics means little if meanwhile the environment the community relies on is destroyed."

In the documentary special, she adds, "For us to come here and say to the children, 'This is why it's important to plant a tree,' that's the biggest message I can teach my kids, and it's something that they've certainly learned from Her Majesty and her message."

The Queen's Commonwealth Canopy initiative aims to create and protect areas of indigenous forest across all Commonwealth nations to protect the earth for generations to come.

"The Queen's Green Planet" aired in the U.K. last week.
