A friend of the 'Austin Powers' actor reportedly called the authorities, describing the 49-year-old actor as 'extremely upset, drunk and suicidal.'

AceShowbiz - Verne Troyer was rushed to the hospital on Monday night, April 2 for a "reported poisoning." According to Los Angeles City Fire Department, they received a call from the "Austin Powers" actor's home in North Hollywood around 8:34 P.M.

Police could not confirm Troyer's identity and the nature of the alleged poisoning due to privacy laws. However, official revealed that one person indeed was transported to the hospital.

According to TMZ, a friend of the actor made the call. The friend reportedly told the police that Troyer was "extremely upset, drunk and suicidal." The Blast reported that a 72-hour psychiatric evaluation was done and the 49-year-old actor was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold.

A rep for Troyer took to Instagram to deliver the heartbreaking news as well as ask for prayers. "Asking you to keep Verne in your thoughts and prayers. He's getting the best care possible and is resting comfortably," said the rep. "Appreciate the support from family, friends, and fans around the world. We will keep you updated here."

This arrives after Troyer, who has been battling alcoholism, was admitted to the hospital for the issue a year ago. He also checked into a rehab treatment program.

Troyer, who rose to fame after playing Mini-Me in "Austin Powers" franchise, once addressed his alcoholism. "I've been hearing from some concerned fans, so I'd like to address a very personal situation," Troyer said last April. "As you know, I've battled alcohol addiction in the past and while it's not always been an easy fight, I'm willing to continue my fight day by day."

"I've been receiving treatment for the last week and I am voluntarily checking into a treatment center later this week to continue to get the help that I need," he added. "I want to thank everyone that's reached out with their messages of support, it truly means the world to me. With your support, I got this."
