AceShowbiz - Hulu has decided not to go forward with its previously-planned TV series based on IDW's beloved graphic novel "Locke and Key". The network has passed on the small screen take on the series, which pilot was helmed by "It" director Andy Muschetti.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hulu executives, including new chief content officer Joel Stillerman ("The Walking Dead") and senior vp Craig Erwich, were in favor of the project and wanted to pick it up to a series. However, CEO Randy Freer had a different opinion on the planned horror series. Hulu declined to comment, though.

They hope that the planned series will soon find its new home.
Actress Samantha Mathis also addressed the issue in her recent interview with Cultured Vulture. "I did a pilot for Hulu called 'Locke and Key' but it didn't get picked up by Hulu," she revealed. "It's getting shopped around to Amazon and Netflix and Apple and everyone right now. Who knows, maybe that will end up some place."
When asked about the details of the series, Mathis said, "It's [written by] Joe Hill, Stephen King's son. A series of graphic of novels that are very popular dealing with a haunted house. Very popular. We'll see what happens."
Previously, it was reported that Danny Glover ("Lethal Weapon") was cast as Joe Ridgeway with up-and-comer Jack Mulhern playing Tyler Locke. Joe is an "eccentric English teacher at Matheson Academy. After the gruesome murder of their father Rendell, the Locke family moves to Matheson. Joe becomes a mentor to the Locke children and a friend to Nina [Frances O'Connor], but he also knows some of the tragic secrets Rendell kept from his family."
Tyler, meanwhile, is the oldest son of Rendell and Nina Locke. He is depicted as a protective brother to his sibling. Following his dad's death, Tyler was forced to fill his father's shoes as man of the house. "Tyler's life is even more complicated after discovering his ancestral family home has magical keys that give him a vast array of powers and abilities."
Also starring in the pilot were "It" stars Jackson Robert Scott and Megan Charpentier. The two portrayed the other Locke children, Bode and Kinsey respectively. Also joining the cast was Nate Corddry, who is set to play the Locke kids' uncle Duncan Locke.
"Locke & Key" follows the story of a family who moves to their ancestral home (Keyhouse) in Maine following the horrific murder of their father. The kids later discover that the house has magical keys which give them various powers and abilities. Unbeknownst to them, a big bad demon also wants those keys and will stop at nothing to get them.
