Celebrity

People later take to Twitter to mock the Batman depicter, who once said that the colorful phoenix ink was fake, as it turns out that it is real.

AceShowbiz - Remember Ben Affleck's giant back tattoo that he said it was "fake" two years ago? It turns out the massive ink in the back of the Batman depicter is real. The 45-year-old actor flaunt the ink in a recent beach outing in Hawaii.

The "Justice League" star went shirtless in the Thursday, March 15 training session for his upcoming movie "Triple Frontier", flaunting the colorful phoenix tattoo spreading its wings on his back. Ben was photographed donning a pair of navy shorts. Also joining Ben in the training session for the Netflix series were fellow stars Charlie Hunnam, Oscar Isaac and Garrett Hedlund.

Ben first debuted the giant ink in December 2015 when he was filming fot "Live by Night". The "Gone Girl" actor allegedly got the ink after then-wife Jennifer Garner filed for divorce after 10 years of marriage. However, Ben shut down the rumors and said that the ink, which was said to symbolize rebirth, was fake and he did it "for a movie."

"I actually do have a number of tattoos … but I try to have them in places where you don't have to do a lot of cover up," he told Extra TV's Mario Lopez. "They get sort of addictive, tattoos, after awhile."

People later took to Twitter to react to the fact that the back tattoo was real. Many of them were mocking Ben for having that "stupid back tattoo" as one of the users wrote, "I knew it! That stupid back tattoo is real on Ben Affleck. What the hell was he thinking!!!"

Another user, whose account hilariously named "Ben Affleck's Tattoo", commented in capslock, "I KNEW IT!!!!!"

Meanwhile, another Twitter user wrote a sarcastic remark which stated, "Don't mock Ben Affleck’s phoenix tattoo. It symbolises how he has risen from the ashes, reborn as a guy with a tattoo that sucks." One other implied that Ben's "tattoo drama" was more interesting than Robert Mueller's investigation. "I've been following the Ben Affleck back tattoo drama more closely than the Mueller investigation," the user tweeted.

They were, in fact, not the only ones who found Ben's tattoo unflattering. Ben's exes previously weighed in on the giant back tattoo. Jennifer once told Vanity Fair, "You know what we would say in my hometown about that? 'Bless his heart.' A phoenix rising from the ashes. Am I the ashes in this scenario? I take umbrage. I refuse to be the ashes."

Echoing Jennifer's remarks, Jennifer Lopez said that the ink was "awful." She went on explaining to Andy Cohen, "I would tell him, 'What are you doing?' It has too many colors. His tattoos always have too many colors. They shouldn't be so colorful. You know what I mean? They should be cooler."
