AceShowbiz - Ahead of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's royal wedding, a lot of things have to be prepared. Now that it won't be long for the former "Suits" actress to be a member of British royal family, Meghan has reportedly undergone an intense training surrounded by soldiers firing live ammunition.

According to The Express, the 36-year-old U.S.-born beauty, who was accompanied by her fiance Prince Harry, had a grueling series of exercises conducted by the Army's elite regiment, the Special Air Service (SAS). The site stated that the training included one scenario, in which the troops used live ammunition to save the royal-bride-to-be.

A former SAS officer told the site that the "kidnap and rescue" part was "devised to frighten the life out of anyone." He added, "Even though Meghan will have known the enemy was not real, I guarantee that she will have been petrified. That's why live ammo is used, so she knows what real gunfire sounds like should, God forbid, she ever be in a hostile situation."

It was said that almost every senior royal, except for the Queen, underwent the course, which was based near Hereford, at the HQ of the Special Air Service, the special forces unit of the Army. However, Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton didn't receive one until her wedding to Prince William. A military source said that Meghan underwent the security training even before her wedding was "because of heightened security issues at this time."

Gerald Moor, a former senior Army intelligence officer, revealed that the kind of training Meghan was on was "the toughest, provided by the Army's finest; men who have done everything imaginable during service in Iraq, Afghanistan and Northern Ireland."

He continued, "Meghan will have found the experience physically and psychologically grueling. The men enact a kidnap situation, during which she will have been treated as a hostage, with the area being stormed by the SAS. She will also have been advised how to develop a relationship with her kidnappers, which is often far better than trying to escape."

"She will have been shown how to deal with situations when things go wrong, for example if her close protection officer gets shot and she has to fend for herself," he concluded.

Harry and Meghan will wed on May 19 at St George's Chapel in Windsor Castle.
