'The Bachelor' Recap: Becca Confronts Arie for Dumping Her in Dramatic 'After the Final Rose'
TV

Meanwhile, Becca is officially announced as the next the Bachelorette and she vows to 'find love' and 'meet so many amazing guys.'

AceShowbiz - The drama in season 22 of "The Bachelor" continued as "After the Final Rose" was aired on Tuesday, March 6. The live special episode marked the first time for Becca to confront Arie Luyendyk Jr. after the latter dumped her just weeks after he kneeled down to pursue his love for runner-up Lauren.

Arie kicked off the episode by visiting Lauren's hometown in Virginia Beach. The race car driver told Lauren that if he could turn back time, he would propose to her instead of Becca. Lauren, who was aware of the breakup as she spoke on the phone with Arie prior to the shocking twist, told Arie that she was heartbroken after Arie chose Becca over her at the final rose ceremony. But Arie assured her that while he was comfortable with Becca's confidence, he couldn't shake Lauren off his mind.

"As soon as I heard your voice, I was like…I'm in trouble,” Arie told Lauren. "Because there's no denying that I love you so much," he continued, adding that he's "1000 percent" over Becca. "My heart's with you and will always be with you," Arie said, to which Lauren responded, "I forgive you." Lauren even said that she hoped it didn't take that much longer for him to propose to her.

Back in the studio, the other contestants grilled Arie for his final decision. Bekah commented, "There's so many words I want to say that would have to be bleeped out… I just think he's not a genuine person and he just wants to say whatever he wants to say to the person in front of him to get what he wants." Bekah also said Arie shouldn't have proposed in the first place or at least not breaking up with Becca, in front of "millions of people on camera."

Becca later weighed in on the "brutal" breakup. "At that point it wasn't sadness -- I was glad he told me," Becca opened up. "I just wish I would have known sooner, I think. The hardest part was hearing that he did still have so many feelings for her after that. I thought he was just going to close that chapter. It was the complete opposite."

However, it wouldn't stop Becca from confronting Arie. She demanded an explanation from the Bachelor about why he wasn't "fully" honest with her for the first few weeks they were engaged as she wanted to know the moment which brought Arie come to realization that he loved Lauren. Arie told Becca that it was when he had a conversation with Lauren through a phone call. Becca, meanwhile, thought that the phone call was for him to close the door on his relationship with Lauren.

When being pressed about why he proposed when he wasn't fully sure of his own feelings, Arie blamed "the pressure of being The Bachelor." He continued explaining, "[The pressure of' knowing there's a timeline and having to make the decision on that day." Becca wasn't satisfied with his answer as she quickly interrupted, "You always have a choice," to which Arie responded, "I make no excuse."

"You robbed me… I will never have that first engagement, the first proposal again. I understand it’s a very high-pressure situation, I just wish you had thought it through so much more on that day," Becca shared. But in the end, she opted to forgive Arie. "I do want you to be happy. I hope Lauren is your one… I just want you to be honest with her. Hold her heart high, have the most respect for her, be committed to her," she said.

Meanwhile, Lauren admitted that she's "never been more in love with him. We're very, very happy together." Lauren also revealed that she and Arie would be leaving the country for a vacation before she's moving to Arizona.

It was time for a big announcement. Host Chris Harrison announced that Becca would be the next The Bachelorette. "I have some big shoes to fill, that's for sure. I want to be the best damn Bachelorette I can be. So I'm so excited. I want to find love. I want to meet so many amazing guys. I'm just ready to do this!"

Becca added that it was easy for her to accept the offer. "Honestly, once I got past the initial heartbreak," she said. "At the end of the day, the show is about finding love. That's all I want to do. I have so much love to give. So hard yes, all-around!"

Later, some of the suitors appeared with Becca being impressed with the first guy named Lincoln. Another suitor named Chase told the new leading lady, "You deserve better than that… When one door closes, another one opens. I hope to be that open door… I can't wait to see that smile when I walk out of the limo the first time."

There was also a guy who played a banjo and sang a song for Becca, who later made him promise to teach her to play the instrument. A contestant named Darius, meanwhile, joked, "I just want to formally apologize on behalf of my gender." He also assured Becca that he's here for her only to get told, "Don't get ahead of yourself."

Becca's "The Bachelorette" is set to premiere on May 28 on ABC.
