AceShowbiz - Frances McDormand nearly lost her Oscar, just hours after she received it at the 2018 Academy Awards. After her win at the Sunday, March 4 ceremony, the "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" star continued the celebration at the Governors Ball and that's when she was briefly separated from the statuette.

A man named Terry Bryant tried to steal McDormand's Oscar after it was engraved at the Governors Ball. It's not clear how the suspect got his hand on McDormand's Oscar, but the 60-year-old actress was seen crying emotionally outside the ball after giving up the search for the golden man and leaving the party with her husband, filmmaker Joel Coen.

McDormand was later seen making her way to the Vanity Fair Oscar Party at the Wallis Center for Performing Arts in Beverly Hills without having her Oscar with her. "Somebody tried to steal my Oscar at the Governors Ball," she told producer Jason Blum. "Let me see someone try to pawn that!" A member of her entourage added, "A lunatic stole it and we had to arrest them."

Security was looking for the Oscar and the suspect was apprehended while leaving the Governor's Ball after a photographer for celebrity chef Wolfgang Puck noticed Bryant was not a winner at the Academy Awards when he saw him holding the statuette.

Bryant reportedly handed over the trophy without resistance. Gary Oldman, who won Best Actor for his role in "Darkest Hour", later brought McDormand's Oscar and returned it to her. "I can confirm that, after a brief time apart last night, Frances and her Oscar were happily reunited," a rep for McDormand said.

The LAPD arrested Bryant, who was first taken to a hospital to be evaluated. He was booked into jail around 4 A.M. at the Hollywood station and has been charged with felony grand larceny. He is currently being held on $20,000 bail.

It was McDormand's second Oscar. She previously won for her role in "Fargo".
