The 'Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouro' actor bags the trophy for Best Supporting Actor at the 90th Academy Awards while other first winners include 'Darkest Hour' and 'Icarus'.

AceShowbiz - The 90th Academy Awards has announced its first winner. The big event, which was held at Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, March 4 and hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, named Sam Rockwell as the Best Supporting Actor for his excellent performance as a bigoted police officer in "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri".

Sam, who won Best Supporting Actor in a Motion Picture at 2018 Golden Globe Awards, bested fellow "Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri" actor Woody Harrelson, Willem Dafoe ("The Florida Project"), Richard Jenkins ("The Shape of Water") and Christopher Plummer ("All the Money in the World").

Another early winner that night was "Darkest Hour". The British war drama nabbed the trophy for Makeup and Hairstyling category. Kazuhiro Tsuji, David Malinowski and Lucy Sibbick shared the award for their work on the movie. Meanwhile, Mark Bridges won Costume Design for his work on "Phantom Thread".

Icarus bagged the trophy for Documentary Feature that night. Directed by Bryan Fogel and Dan Cogan, the flick beat "Abacus: Small Enough to Jail", "Faces Places", "Last Men in Aleppo" and "Strong Island".
