AceShowbiz - It's official! The whole Monterey gang is going back together for the second season of "Big Little Lies" as Shailene Woodley, Laura Dern and Zoe Kravitz have been confirmed to reprise their respective roles in the upcoming season.

In the new season of the critically-acclaimed HBO series, Shailene reprises her role as Jane Chapman. Meanwhile, Laura returns as Renata Klein with Zoe once again portraying Bonnie Carlson. The three will be joining previously-announced returning cast members Reese Witherspoon and Nicole Kidman.

Meryl Streep has also been tapped to guest-star in the sophomore season. The Oscar-winning actress is set to play Mary Louise Wright, the mother-in-law of Nicole's character Celeste Wright and the mother of Alexander Skarsgard's Perry Wright. The official description of Mary Louise reads, "Concerned for the well-being of her grandchildren following her son's death, Mary Louise arrives in Monterey searching for answers."

New details of the upcoming season of the Emmy-winning series have also been revealed. Reese's Madeline Martha Mackenzie is said to be confronting the truth of Perry's death and coming to terms with her own marriage and traditional notions of marriage. Meanwhile, Celeste is still reeling from her husband's death, "adrift, but determined to fight for her family and find the woman she once was."

In the new season, Renata will face new challenges in her own marriage, while Jance continues to rebuild her life with son Ziggy as she processes the death of her attacker Perry. Bonnie's parents will also be introduced in season 2.

HBO previously said that season 2 would "explore the malignancy of lies, the durability of friendships, the fragility of marriage and, of course, the vicious ferocity of sound parenting. Relationships will fray, loyalties will erodeā€¦the potential for emotional and bodily injury shall loom."

Written by David E. Kelley and directed by Andrea Arnold, season 2 of "Big Little Lies" reportedly will arrive in 2019.
