Gillian Anderson Poses Naked in New PETA Ad
Celebrity

In the black-and-white photo, the 'X-Files' star strips down to nothing as she'd 'rather go naked than wear fur.'

AceShowbiz - Gillian Anderson is opting to be literally naked "than wear fur." The 49-year-old actress declares her motto as she strips down to nothing for PETA's anti-fur campaign.

PETA has just released a new black-and-white photo which sees her being all smiles. Donning bouncy curls and cat ears atop her head, "The X-Files" star strategically puts her hands to cover her modesty.

"I'd rather go naked than wear fur" is splashed across Gillian's age-defying body in pink writing. The official Instagram account for the animal rights organization based in Norfolk, Virginia, posts the photo, writing in the caption, "She'd rather go naked than wear fur. @GillianA, star of #TheXFiles, strips down in a liberating new PETA ad."

In an interview with the organization, the "Hannibal" alum says, "I found it liberating to use my body to make an important statement. People tend to look away from anti-fur ads showing mangled animals, but they're drawn to PETA's 'naked' campaign, and I'm proud to be a part of it."

Gillian's ad will be featured on a 70-foot billboard hanging over Penn Station during New York Fashion Week this month.

This marks the second time Gillian showed her support for PETA. Back in 2015, she starred in a PETA TV spot which followed the series finale of "Hannibal". The creepy ad saw Gillian's Dr. Bedeia Du Maurier sitting in a luxurious candlelit dinner with a huge, long meat as the main course. "Eating meat? It's a matter of taste," she said, before the camera panned down to show her bandaged upper-thigh. Yes, it was her leg.

The Emmy-winning actress joined Pink and Taraji P. Henson among celebrities who participated in the anti-fur campaign. The "Beautiful Trauma" singer and the "Empire" star both appeared in PETA's Fashion Week ads.
